Upcoming Anniversaries

I want to share with you some of the ideas we have developed for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the parish.

I would like to frame the jubilee celebration between the dates that are very important in the history of Our Lady of Grace. The first is January 6, 1935, the date of the first Mass in the store on Avenue X, the second September 27, 1936, the date of the first Mass in our church. Our observance of our anniversary, therefore, would run from January 2010 through September of 2011, giving us 21 months to celebrate.

We have begun discussing this at the Parish Pastoral Council and with the Anniversary Committee. We plan to design a banner for inside and outside the church in order to advertise the anniversary. We hope to sponsor a variety of activities: a parish mission, outdoor Masses (in the Grotto), a parish picnic, concerts, a ministry fair, reunions, a journal, a dinner dance at Russo's on the Bay,etc.

My hope is that this important occasion will inspire all of our ministries, societies, and organizations to come together and work together for the good of the parish. This is a great opportunity to develop the spirit of our parish family.
